AVÉ perform works by Elena Kats-Chernin, Joseph Twist, Sally Whitwell, Paul Stanhope, Anne Cawrse, Perry Joyce, Kevin Baker, Stephen Leek, Thomas Green and Andrew O’Connor responding to Gwen Harwood’s poetry in an intimate program of Australian voices, vivid text, and expressive song.

NSW Department of Education In Concert 2025
The 2025 In Concert series is an annual showcase of secondary choral music within our NSW public schools. It features 800 high school students in a combined choir.
This magnificient concert involves hundreds of schools and students from across NSW. This concert series is one of the core state level arts programs managed by The Arts Unit of the NSW Department of Education.
The series also provides a unique opportunity for schools to access targeted high-quality repertoire and professional learning opportunities.
This festival will also feature the NSW Public Schools Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra and the NSW Public Schools Singers.

Committed to telling uniquely Australian stories, AVÉ presents these new works based on the poetry of iconic QLD poets, David Malouf and Gwen Harwood.
This project marks the second song cycle commissioned by the Australian Vocal Ensemble as they expand their repertoire of new Australian vocal works, generating a new sound world to be discovered and shared.
This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through Creative Australia, its principal arts investment and advisory body.
